Yes, He Is Experienced
The Jimi Hendrix Sex Tape
Move over Rover, and let Jimi take over
Jerome the "Jimi Hendrix Guy" stopped by the library today see if we had any new material about his idol James Marshall Hendrix, whose body may have been laid to rest on September 18, 1970 but whose body of work continues to carry on to this day. In the midst of holding forth with me on his monomaniacal obsession, another patron interrupted and started talking about the left-handed guitar genius who, especially in the African-American community, seems to hold as revered a iconic status as a performing artist as Bruce Lee.
The stranger asked Hendrix Guy if he had ever seen the Jimi Hendrix sex tape.
"Oh yeah, I got that!" Hendrix Guy replied. (Why am I not surprised?)
Woa! I had never heard of this, even though it was old news to Hendrix fanatics, the grainy and dimly-lit 11-minute threesome tryst having been unearthed in 2008 and (subsequent Googling determined) is currently being hawked on DVD by adult porn purveyor Vivid Entertainment for $40 (wwwhendrixsettape.com). (Vivid, of course, also famously distributed the notorious sex tape of actress Pamela Anderson and rocker Tommy Lee, among others).
At the time, Vivid's co-chairman Steven Hirsch hyped the company's release by saying "Jimi Hendrix could have been as great a porn star as he was a rock star."
The fellow Hendrix fan agreed, telling Hendrix Guy, "What a workout - Jimi worked that tongue!" (No wonder he was so adept as fellating his guitar during those solos!)
As far as musicians go, I had only seen the sex tapes of Tommy Lee (perhaps the most inarticulate mating dance between two mammals in the annals of history) and the incredibly energetic/fit Chuck Berry (a man who clearly enjoys all bodily functions!), so this was all new to me.
At least one Hendrix biographer and an ex-girlfriend have called the tape bogus while supergroupies Pamela Des Barres and Cynthia Plaster Caster (aka, Cynthia Albritton, who has stood next to Jimi's fire) says it's him. "No doubt about it, that's Jimi Hendrix, and I should know," said the famous broad-caster.
Every day I learn something new at the library - whether I want to or not!
