How Do You Spell Relief?

A box marked "Hurricane Katrina Donations" sits in front of the information desk at the library where I work.

Its contents, to date:

One 2.7-ounce Secret Roll-On Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant, solid, Spring Breeze. Retail vale: $2.99.

Thanks, people. You have spoken, and we have heard.

The uninformed might think perhaps non-perishable food, water and clothing might be better donations. But I'm sure B.O. is a major problem facing the survivors, what with the humidity and all the raw sewage floating about. And while the quality of mercy cannot be strained, it CAN be rolled on.
